Living near the ocean has changed my life. Our afternoon walks on the beach have made me connect with the ocean in a way I haven't felt before. I've never really been much of a beach person in terms of going there as an activity, not since high school anyway.
By going almost every day, I've witnessed the way the ocean's moods change, how it's alive, how it breathes. This beautiful moving expanse of water, that stays crashing on beaches and doesn't swallow the whole world.
Walking barefoot through the seawater has become one of my daily delights. I feel that connection very deeply when I'm in the sea too. It's like when I'm on the mountain, I'm experiencing the fynbos, the rocks, and the views. But when I'm in the ocean, I'm physically IN it, I'm a part of it, and we change each other.
"Olokun (Yoruba: Olóòkun) is an orisha spirit in Yoruba religion. Olokun is believed to be the parent of Aje, the orisha of great wealth and of the bottom of the ocean. Olokun is revered as the ruler of all bodies of water and for the authority over other water deities. Olokun is highly praised for their ability to give great wealth, health, and prosperity to their followers."- 210mm x 210mm
