The word Abracadabra has a very interesting history. We know the word from magic shows, as someone waves a wand over a top hat, but historically it was believed to have healing powers when inscribed on an amulet. Read more about that here. I chose to illustrate this word as it's a reminder to live a life filled with magick. Reminding us to use wisdom to choose how you react to events in one's life, a kind of alchemy of emotions.
I illustrated each piece of each letter by hand on pieces of paper that I cut out. Scanned and finished in Photoshop, the result is a beautiful word made up of beautiful pieces, each one a tiny artwork on their own.
